Before any testing, we collect background information to understand the learner's history.

A brief screening determines whether a comprehensive literacy assessment is warranted. It answers one question: where does the reading breakdown appear to be occurring?

Results become a Fluency Fuel Literacy Profile—not simply a collection of scores. The profile identifies:

Step 05
We meet with the family and explain the findings in accessible language. Families leave understanding what their child can do, where the difficulty occurs, and what Fluency Fuel will do about it.
Step 06
Assessment results drive explicit, systematic, cumulative literacy instruction. For students with dyslexia characteristics, instruction follows structured-literacy principles rather than leveled or repeated reading.
Step 07
We collect brief, targeted data regularly rather than waiting until the end of a program cycle. Progress monitoring occurs every 2–4 weeks depending on the skill and intervention intensity, and tracks only measures directly connected to the student's goals.
Step 08
Approximately every 8–12 weeks we conduct a broader review comparing current performance with baseline data. Parents receive a concise Fluency Fuel Progress Report with graphs showing growth over time.
Step 09
At completion we repeat the appropriate baseline measures to quantify growth and provide families with an End-of-Cycle Literacy Report documenting outcomes and recommendations for continued support.
Fluency Fuel provides instructional literacy assessments. Our findings are described as instructional data and recommendations. A formal dyslexia diagnosis or evaluation carries different professional, legal, and test-qualification requirements depending on the jurisdiction and instruments used, and is outside the scope of the Reading Lab.
